Bottle from an Albert Heijn supermarket. Gluten free version of Estrella Damm, with moussy, snow white, medium sized head with moderate retention, over a cristal clear, pure golden blonde beer with vivid fizz. Aroma of cereals, damp cloth, freshly cut grass, white bread dough, soaked corn, hints of iron, wet cardboard, burnt plastic, raw celery, sweaty abbey cheese. Fairly neutral onset, no esters, turning moderately cereal sweetish with light, notably oily, smooth mouthfeel and minerally, quite strong carbonation; bit metallic as well. A more sourish graininess sits underneath, but the sweetishness prevails, though it gets accompanied by a grassy, lightly drying hop bitterishness in the end, more so than average in a standard pale lager. Scientifically speaking it is difficult to prove that any beer does not contain any gluten at all, but I get the intention here; more importantly perhaps, is that within the monotonous ocean of bland pale lagers, this one does stand out a bit and seems more interesting flavour-wise than e.g. the regular Estrella Damm. But it remains, in all, another bland pale lager, of course, with a strongly industrial (and even slightly chemical) feel to it.

Tried at the Theoc, Tewkesbury. Pale straw gold colour with a white head. Malty aroma and a touch earthy. Taste is mid dry. Ok for a gluten free.
