The first IPA brewed in Matuška Brewery combines Czech and American hops. The IPA kind of beer comes from the 19th century England. The East India Company exported beer to India, where England had its colonies, and because the beer had to survive the long trip, it was being made stronger and hoppier. Hops help protect the beer from bacteria. For our Raptor, we used a combination of Czech, English and American ingredients while using our brewing process.

Aroma of light malt, orange, lots of tropical fruits such as grapefruit and mango. Flavour is fruity and hoppy with a nice bitterness in the finish. Exemplary IPA, best I found on my 4 day trip to Prague.

Tap at Prague Beer Museum: Clear golden colored brew with an intense dry bitter taste, very zesty hints of lemon, grapefruit and other citrusfruits.

Old note from Zlý časy. Golden orange color, white foam. Aroma and taste: hoppy, orange zest, grapefruit, fruity, pine, bitter, a bit unbalanced.

750 ml bottle. Almost clear dark orange golden with a creamy head. Floral notes, roses, elderflower, zesty notes, resinous hops, grapefruit, candy sugar. Hoppy zesty bitterness, malty sweetness. Full to medium bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, hoppy bitter malty zesty resinous finish. Very nice classic IPA!

Ein feines Bier zum Arbeitswochenabschluss von der als ausgezeichnet bekannten Brauerei in der Nähe von Prag. Und auch dieses Bier enttäuscht mich nicht. Es ist wunderbar gehopft uns nicht zu bitter. Es ist schon aromatisch und lässt sich dich leicht und gemütlich trinken, ohne Fläche zu wirken. So soll IPA sein.
