Corresponding to the spring, our Maibock is a lighter representative than the dark Bock from our house. Its golden yellow color and the malty aroma go hand in hand with the sweetness of a real Bock beer softened by Hallertau hops.

Bottle, 0.5l. Clear golden/copper pour, three finger frothy white head, long lasting. Thick lacing on the glass. Malty nose, a bit liquory, grassy and grainy notes. Medium body, soft carbonation. Smoth mouthfeel, chewy texture. Pleasant on the tongue, goes down nicely. Sweet malty taste, subtle alcohol bitterness in the background, nicely balanced. Simple aroma but works well. Caramel malt, wheat, grains, grass. Bready, mild peppery. Lingering alcohol notes. Sweet and slightly sticky. Short to medium finish, dry. Good one.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.9%. Golden colour, large white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and floral and herbal hops. Fairly sweet and malty flavour, notes of honey and caramel, moderate herbal hops, the alcohol is noticeable. A bit too far out on the sweet side for me.

Clear deep golden colour, tall frothy white head, good retention, fair lacing. Aroma pale and sweet malt, caramel, grain, grass. Taste medium sweet and bitter, very malty, caramel, biscuit, spicy notes. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, alcohol notes, peppery on the tongue, medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, good.

Bottle from Alko in Helsinki and on tap at St. Urho's. Could never track this down in Germany, but ran into it here... Rich malt nose, biscuits, bread, honey, light citrus. Pale golden color, rather pale for the style. Nice bubbly head. Sweet malts, which melanoidins, creamy, bready. Bit of citrus tartness, with a lightly peppery finish and some esters. Pretty damn good maibock for sure. Full body, not overly sweet. Tap was a notch cleaner and crisper.

Bottle from Systembolaget. I'm sure if you like the style this is great but I have never understood Bocks. Highly sweet and alcohol. Not a problem to drink however. (6/7/19) ---- Bottle from Systembolaget. Should have checked to see if I've rated already as once again I bought a bock knowing I don't like the style. My rating is therefore obviously bias. 2.7 to 2.4. I don't get why there is a need to jack up the booze level as it takes away from smoothness and taste.
