Bottle, thanks to Leighton. It pours dark brown, with ruby highlights and a thick off-white. The nose is smoke, meat and some caramel. The taste is smoke, meat, wood, caramel, brown sugar, hay and some alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and smooth mouth-feel. Nice.

Tap at the brewpub, Vienna, then a bottle shared at The Kernel, London. Pours dark brown with a creamy, light tan cap. Lovely smoke aroma, with light notes of cured ham. Flavor is bang on. Beautiful smoke, honey-cured ham, brown sugar, mild leaves. Medium bodied with fine, average creamy carbonation. Medium to long sweet-smokey finish, more honey and brown sugar, also some toast. Very solid on all fronts. Great character, great balance.

swing top bottle (500ml).-Courtesy of and shared with Doggythedog (thanks!)
Dark amber coloured, medium sized pale tan head, strong smoked nose with touch of alcohol. Heavy smoked bacon taste with notes of ash and alcohol. Smooth, simple and good rauchbock.

0.5l bottle a couple of friends brought from Wien (thanks a lot Ivana and Tomislav!), shared with ogivlado. Poured a lovely murky red body on top of which perched a bigh thick off white head that went away at a medium pace. The nose is simple but nice, buttery and smokey with light notes of alcohol. The taste is dominated by the smoke, reminding me of Dalmatian smoked bacon (panceta), built on top of a nice, very pleasant sweet maltiness with a light alcohol presence trailing behind. Somewhat buttery too. Fine mouthfeel. Sweetish, not too complex, but damn tasty.
