So called because of its truly "ruinous" effect on your palate, this massive hop monster will change forever your preconceptions of what defines good beer. This is Stone IPA's big brother, and we mean BIG. We essentially began with our already-awesome Stone IPA, threw in an extra-large helping of malt, and added a lot more hops. And then some more. And then even more, resulting in a vibrant blast of citrusy bitterness that hits you on the first sip. Just one taste and you'll know why we call this indelicate jewel "A liquid poem to the glory of the hop!"

One of the first regularly brewed and bottled imperial IPAs.

Appearance- amber, hazy, pure white head which persists around the edge. Aroma- nose fills with floral hops, huge fruitiness, lots of orange and orange peel. Tangy fruit, hop resins, marmalade, bit of malt. Taste- hops galore. Full mouthfeel, coats the mouth. Massive bitterness, juicy fruit, orange, lemon, grapefruit, pine, tangerine, lingering bitterness in a very long finish, fruitcake hints and some biscuity malt. Really excellent.

Keg @ Euston Tap. A suitable name for the ruination it caused my wallet - £8.10 a pint! This is a great IPA though, resinous citrus and hoppy grapefruit and tropical flavours but smooth enough to make it pleasantly drinkable. Bitter finish. Great stuff.

12 ounce bottle. Slightly hazy amber orange color. Medium-sized rocky beige head. Big pine needle aroma. Rich caramel maltiness is overtaken quickly by the huge hop crescendo that awaits. Notes of pine, grapefruit and apricot. Finishes bitter and tasty, with an amazing long clinging mouthfeel.

Hoppy, some citrus. Disappointing in the end.

Privatimport.

Dark golden with an off white head - A good hop aroma with citrus, especially grapefruits and some pine - Malt to support the hops that has flavours of a lot of grapefruits and some pine as well, and it has a good bitterness to it - Dry grapefruit ending , This was quite good

Bottle from Total Wines, Sterling VA. Hazy gold with a slight, off-white head. Massive hopping, grapefruit and pine and not much by way of balancing malt, before a rapsing dry finish. A bit too extreme for me.

Very strong and bitter with the first sip, but I got used to it after a few minutes, which opens a nice fruity strong IPA. Very good.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear good with moderate head. Aromas of toffee, rubber, pink grapefruit, and candy. Sharp bitter flavors of orange peel, graperfruit, and resin. Maybe there is some malts in the background...
