Bottiglia. Al naso l'aroma rimanda a orzo tostato, caffè e cioccolato. L'intensità olfattiva è elevata e l'esistenza olfattiva è apprezzabile. Il colore è come l'inchiostro nero. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è di media potenza. La forza gustativa è molto elevata e la durata è buona e persistente. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di birra beverina. Il finale è felpato e amarognolo. Il retrogusto è intenso. Al gusto vengono donati toni di miele, crosta di panettone, cioccolato fondente, caffè, liquirizia e agrumi.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours deep brown, with fine brown foam. Aroma is of licorice, a little nutty and dark chocolate. Body is not particularly dense, with minimal carbonation. Taste is medium sweet, but met with a nice roasty feeling. Final is fairly long and roasty.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at an off licence in Lucca, Italy as I recall, about five years ago. Pours black-brown with very little head. It's a nice old-school impy stout, moderately sweet, with a lot of ashy roast, scorched earth, bitter dark chocolate. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more bitter ashy roast, baking cocoa, a few raisins, burnt caramel. Good stuff.

Bottle shared @home. Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma leggera color cappuccino, non molto persistente. Al naso note di cioccolato, caffé, melassa, oliva verde. In bocca è dolce all'attacco, con finale appena amaro, ossidazione. Corpo medio-pieno, carbonazione leggera. Ha retto più di quanto mi aspettassi.

T: a lot of chocolate, cocoa, bit coffee, plums, bit vinous, not too sweet, good balanced, enjoyed, full body, lower carbonation, sample @ Brassigaume Festival 2017 in Marbehan (BE).

Sampled @ Brassigaume 2017. A black beer with a mid-sized good lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark malt, chocolate and some vanilla. Taste of dark medium roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, some toffee, nice.

12oz bottle at Lortica pours a oily black with some legs and a creamy, beige head. Nose has a lot of Laphroaig, salty, rubber, molasses, licorice, smoke, raisin. Flavor is a little more approachable, sweet malt, licorice, some dark chocolate, brown sugar, dried fruit (cherries/raisins/prune), some smoke and rubber, salty dried shrimp, mild pepper. Full bodied, oily finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Stas. Opaque viscous black with almost no foam. Nice aroma of chocolate, cocoa, roast, soy sauce and a bit of licorice. Roasty flavor, bitter, slightly sweetish, with cocoa, dark chocolate, a dark fruit hint and a bitter roasty finish. Quite full-bodied. Very good.
