An Imperial Blonde Ale or Blonde Barley Wine; Helldorado has the lightest color of any of the beers in our barrel program but carries a great deal of interesting barrel character: vanilla, light char and amazing lavender-honey notes. Rich boozy honey liqueur character and loads of smooth sweet toasted malt to finish. The El Dorado hops dance in the background without playing a dominant role in the flavor profile. This beer gets better and better the longer it is in barrel.

2015 bottle. Nose of hone, vanilla, bourbon, marshmallow, and a strange spiciness that reminds me of wasabi somehow. Also toasted coconut. Luscious and seems sweet at first but finishes nicely dry, so easy to drink. Lovely.

Sample at Beer Meets Wood on 09/23/2017. Cloudy mahogany color with a medium beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing. Aroma of oak, malt, fruit and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of bourbon, caramel malt, ripe fruit and vanilla. The finish is boozy with a malt and piney hop aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Poured from 355mL bottle [2017 vintage; No. 003; ABV listed at 12.8%]. Orangey yellow with quickly dissipating minimal off-white head. Vanilla and honey, caramel malt, wood, mild dried fruit, alcohol has a medium burn. Lots of flavour, but not a lot of depth. Medium body with flavours doing more of a hit and run.

2016 vintage shared by Chalumeaux, spilt 3 ways. Thank you for another wonderful share T.J.! Mild bourbon, sweet toffee, mild vanilla, mild honey sweet hints, I can’t find alcohol whatsoever, flavor is smooth as ALL hell. Why would anybody open this bottle right when it was released? I could only see this developing slightly more with a bit more time.

Sweet without ever becoming cloying. The 2016 vintage is marked at 11.8 % Unreal that is is totally masked. Overall, I am no longer easily impressed when it comes to any beer. Firestone Walker was able to surprise yet again. I am so glad I have a bottle in my cellar. Silly, stupid, crazy good! Anybody reading this that has a bottle of this and doesn’t like it... Contact me for a trade. I will be happy to take it off your hands.
