A collaboration with Modern Times Beer + Coffee, this beguiling blend of fresh porter and barrel-aged porter was brewed with ten varieties of malted barley, wheat and oats. Following fermentation, this inky brew rested on bourbon barrel-aged coffee for two days, infusing trace notes of ripe fruit, citrus and rich vanilla.

Acquired a can in a trade with tfontana, thanks Tom! Best by 9 April 2020. Flavor of caramel/ roasted malt backbone. Secondary flavors; mild bourbon and day-old coffee. Coffee can be volatile. This tastes like a cup of coffee that sat on the counter overnight. And then someone added a half shot of bourbon. Thinner body. Had higher hopes for this.

16 oz can. Pours very dark brown with light head. Aromas of toasted malts and nutty light chocolate. Flavors of sweet sugary coffee, nutty chocolate and light grainy malts. Can't get much if any bourbon.

Can pour from Colonial Spirits, Acton. Appearance is clear dark brown (dark mahogany with light source directly behind) with nice sparkle, finger-width foamy beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is initial bourbon followed by rich chocolate and roasted malts and coffee (like chocolate covered espresso beans). Taste is strong roasted coffee trending toward burnt grounds with background bourbon that never quite breaks through. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, somewhat watery texture, average carbonation and crisp finish as taste with lingering roasted bitterness. Overall, I got excited about the description, and the team up, but after a nice look and great aroma, the taste and mouthfeel fall short.

16 oz can from Boise Coop. Dark brown pour, head fades to flat quickly. Aroma is coffee. Just coffee. Coffee is more subdued in the taste, a bit more roast malts, a little sweetness. Bourbon barrel hard to detect.

Black body with off white head. Coffee aroma. Coffee and malt taste with a spink in the finish which seems to be bourbon barrel

Can. A- Espresso, roasty, slightly earthy, mild cocoa beans. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Black coffee, roasty, mild leather, subtle coffee creamer. P- Medium body, slightly thin texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- This seemed like a collab and style that was meant to be and I have been waiting so long for. Love MT coffee porters and their barrel aged beans. Also love Boulevard. Great beer no doubt, but the bourbon influence felt like next to nothing. Got a lot of great coffee notes throughout, but it needs the barrel to go from great to outstanding. If I could taste a whisky oakiness or some sort of barrel effect, I think this would've been a damn good beer. Takes on more of a stale bitter coffee as it warms. Bit of a cola fizz in there too.
