Pours deep darkness with tall semi loose mocha head. The aroma offers up malts balls, chocolate and muted bourbon booze. Great mix of aromatics. The taste is even and balanced with yummy chocolate, some coffee, dark roasted malts and faint barrel notes. Overall a nice chocolate note is coming through with faint smooth barrel notes in the background making for a tasty experience.

2011 bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown-black body, thick puffy light brown head. Nose primarily burnt sugars, coffee beans, and bourbon; toasty and sweet and surprisingly delicate. Tannic, dry body with bourbon and potent oak, too much for the relatively light body, which features roast, burnt sugars and dark chocolate. A touch acrid in the finish. The nose is the best attribute of this beer.

Bottle shared by Sean at 2011 Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice coffee note with dark grains and vanilla as well as a hint of bourbon. Flavor has a good amount of coffee with dark grains and some backing vanilla/wood/bourbon.
