Can shared at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks drfabulous for this can! Black, tan foam. Chocolate, cocoa, milk, vanilla, somewhat artificial, sweet, sugary, bitterish touch, full-bodied.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA. 12 ounce can into snifter, canned on 4/12/2019. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense, creamy, and rocky dark tan head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Amazing appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate/syrup, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, fudge, brownie batter, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, chocolate/syrup, vanilla, lactose, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate/syrup, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, fudge, brownie batter, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate/syrup, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, fudge, brownie batter, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, chocolate/syrup, vanilla, lactose, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome hop/roast bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 12% after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic flavored imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, chocolate/syrup, vanilla, lactose, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the mellowly bitter/drying finish; great soft feel. Amazingly balanced between rich malts, chocolate, vanilla, and lactose flavors; with nice earthy hop presence/balance, and restrained yeast fruitiness. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and very impressive dessert style example.

Thick, gooey, and uber-sweet, very much a melted fudgesicle mixed with a heavy-duty, roasty, licorice-n-burnt chocolate imperial stout. Much bigger fan of the latter than the former; the viscous, charred base of the beer conjures old-school RIS goodness, while the decadent, sugary chocolate lactose-laden front makes it hard to keep going beyond the initial few sips. Grows cloy and boozy as it warms. Ease up on the lactose, guys.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown to black with a full 2 finger brown head that builds like a nitro can. Super thick and viscous looking...straight fudge. Hershey's syrup nose with vanilla bean, fudge brownie and cacao. Thick and rich on the palate with more vanilla, hershey's syrup and brownies. Booze is there and it's definitely sweet, but it's a pastry stout. Lingering cacao nib and vanilla cream.
