For those crazy enough to think our smoked porter needed something more, we give you Chipotle Smoked Porter. In addition to the already bold character from the smoked malts, we bring the heat with a healthy dose of chipotle peppers to take this rich porter to the next level. Recommended pairing with a giant hunk of smoked meat and a big ass bon fire on a cold night.

Pours a dark, cola-brown/black, with minimal head. Aroma of woodsmoke, roasted grain, peppers. Flavor is a bit sweet, with smoke, roasted grain, burn toast, just a slight touch of pepper (could maybe use a bit more), some chocolate, dark fruit. It's good stuff, but could maybe us a bit more character to help it stand out.

Beerand Smoke, Brooklyn bottle: pours dark brown to black with a light brown head. Aroma is smoke, chipotle peppers, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee. Taste is somewhat spicy. Fairly chocolatey. Has some heat in the aftertaste, but nothing here is really excessive. Pretty good.

Blind bottle courtesy of Madvike. Brown=black, porter-like color. Not much of a head, thin, oily. Sweet cherry rauch aroma, a touch of peppery sharpness. Almost has a cask feel. Delicate, mild cookie dough under smoky chocolate. A touch of fruity undercurrents. Very nice. Pepper comes out more and more.

On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. This is a deep really dark ruby one with a small light islandy brown top. I just has some sushi, and that soy sauce ? this smells just like that! Really notable, and it has other nuances of licorice, grass, some sweetness and cocoa powder. Yeah it has a nice mild chili touch, but it's not all that present until the aftertaste. It's below average on the carbonation and the mouthfeel is light oily. Almost a bit watery at first, but you quickly realize that it's not. Some gunpowder in the finish next to the light chili. Yeah, I can drink this again. No problem! 02.05.2013
