The name sort of says it all. John Maier, our Brewmaster, wanted to create a beer that defied traditional style definitions. The result was a remarkably hoppy yet balanced and malty ale that quickly became a cult favorite in our Newport brewpub. But what was it? It was not quite a barley wine and not quite a double or imperial IPA. Who really cares about putting beers into narrow categories? Great beer is great beer - just drink it and enjoy! 24°P. 8 Ingredients: Weyermann & Bohemian Malts; Bravo, Amarillo, Falconer's FLight & Warrior Hops; Free Range Coastal Water & Pacman Yeast.

Big bottle. Pours a very clear golden colour, almost no head. Aroma is hoppy, super intense pine, herbal, some resin, malt. Big body. Flavour is malty and really bitter. Super rich, prune, boozy, but also very hoppy with intense pine. Crazy, this is really an imperial IPA which meets a barley wine. Really interesting and really tasty!

0.75l bottle. Clear golden body, thick white head. Pleasant but surprisingly restrained aroma, grainy maltiness, flowery hoppiness. Taste... Dry, excessively bitter, enormously bitter, unbalanced. Some sweet clean grainy maltiness underneath, but completely bludgeoned down by the enormous, vaguely herbal but aggressive bitterness, with notes of alcohol. Just enormous bite with little to no payoff. I'd love to like it, but... oof... harsh, really harsh.

0.75 l bottle shared with Marko and Anna God. Cheers! Hazy golden, small lasting off-white head. Moderately hoppy, spicy, zest, malts. Candy, different spices and herbs from hops, malty background, quite heavy. Bitter bite in the finish. Harsh. Medium body, strong, light finish. Actually kinda liked this one.

Bottle 22fl.oz @ [ DØE - Ølfestival 2018 ] @ Lokomotivværkstedet, Otto Busses Vej 5A, 2450 Copenhagen SV, Denmark. [ As Rogue New Crustacean Barleywineish Imperial IPA Sorta ].Clear medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt ,sweet malt, caramel, dried fruit, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, grapefruit, fruity hops, pine. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, dried fruit, caramel, sweet malt, frutiy hops, piney, warm alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light light alcoholic. [20180602] 7-3-7-3-15

Sample from 75 cl bottle. Clear golden colour with a thin white head. Sweet aroma with vinous notes, fruity notes. Taste is bitter. Full body with an oliy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with fruits and grasses. Rather bitter for a BW.
