You’ll go totally walnuts over this oak-aged, walnut-seasoned brown ale. Made with a brewing style that dates back to 16th-century England and using a blend of six choice malts and two English hops, Goodwood Walnut Brown Ale features notes of caramel and chocolate with a finish that is – you guessed it – pleasingly nutty.

Nutty brown, solid notes of caramel and toast, backed by a mild walnut streak adding a slight but necessary bitterness. Bready fade with a slight bit of oak, but the wood mostly seems obscured. Thin feel, mild aroma. Needs to be a bigger, more aggressive beer to merit the oak-aging.

Pour is a very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a generic brown ale malt and not much beyond that. Flavor is a slight chocolate and toasted malt. A bit thin and not much or any oak or walnuts. Typical brown ale with not many bells and whistles.

Bottle shared. Thanks Jay! Malty nose with some caramel and light coffee. Walnut and almond on the palate. Light sourness. Crisp with a malt-forward finish. A bit thin though. --- Beer merged from original tick of Walnut Brown Ale on 27 Nov 2016 at 00:49 - Score: 6. Original review text: Malty nose with some caramel and light coffee. On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark amber with medium frothy white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is wood, walnut, cocoa. Medium body, roast, cocoa, oak, light dry finish, good.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a 2-finger off-white head. Aroma is nutty, light roasted malts, wood, and vanilla. The aroma is strange; maybe a bit of sour milk? Cake batter? Taste is roasted malt, walnut, and oak. Again, it’s rather strange. Wouldn’t want to drink this one again.

Bottle, thanks to NeoHippie2. Pours hazy reddish brown with small foamy beige head, woodsy aroma, high carbonation, sweetish nutty taste with wood flavor, thin body, abrupt finish. Weak and watery.

Clear dark brown body with rich garnet highlights under a thin tan head. The aroma is light nutty caramel. The flavor is sweet, a bit of nuttiness but that’s about all.
