Bottle from B&M. Dark brown, noticeably translucent if you hit the light just right. Coffee and bitter chocolate in the aroma but it smells a bit artificial. Tastes a bit artificial as well, with a metallic note among the sweetness. However the sweetness is indeed lush, liquorice-laden and moreish. Even better is the complex, earthy bittersweet finish with ample carbonation. A mixed bag but worth trying.

Aroma of muddy dog hair and barley. Has a nice big head and dark brown body. Flavour is good spicy chocolate with coffee hints. Kind of weak on the mouth. It’s an okay stout with some interesting elements.

Tulip glass at home, 27/06/16. Bought at M&S, Brooklands. Dark as you’d expect but not much head despite my attempt to produce one. I can certainly pick up the cocoa and vanilla aroma (but that could be because I just read the bottle!). A sweet smelling stout. Initial thoughts are that the taste matches the aroma. However after a couple of mouthfulls I’m finding it a bit too sweet, especially with the residue on my tongue. Nice enough but not one I’d drink multiple pints of.

Bottle from B&M store in Hounslow. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Chocolate, malty, vanilla aroma. Tastes similar, chocolate, malty, vanilla, slightly thin and sweet but also quite drinkable.

Bottle from Oddbins. Appearance - opaque black with a thin head. Nose - chocolate and molasses. Taste - more of the same. A decent vanilla note too. Palate - medium bodied with a rich tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - i really like beers like this. Rich but balanced.
