In New Orleans, to-go cups mean the fun (and the beer) doesn’t have to stay inside the bar. To-Gose is Abita’s refreshing take on a traditional gose beer- a slightly salty and sour beer style. Brewed with malted wheat and barley and German Perle hops, fresh key limes are added during aging to create this sour ales wih hints of lime, coriander and sea salt

First beer that made me stop in my tracks and go... interesting. Abita is putting up a fight to get it's crown back as best brewery.

Draught@Rådhuskällaren, Umeå. Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is sweaty socks, salts, some mild citrus to it. Flavour is citrus, wood, mild tart wooden tones with some salt and mild sourness. Still somewhat crisp.

Bottle. Hazy yellow, white head. Nose is seawater, lime. Taste is seawater, lime, heavy on some sort of herb. Seaweed? Finish is mildly tart with lots of herbal notes/green vegetables. Yuck.

Fairly clear light amber and copper coloured body with a thinnish, relatively soapy white head. Aroma of light tart citrus fruit along with some lighter cardboardie malts and a dash of brine and ending with some yeast funk. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong tart flavour at first of limes and lemons and a light malty characteristic that shows some bread and ends with more of the yeast flavour and a pinch of sweetness from apples and pears. Aftertaste shows some of the brine and a little of the yeastie funk and dry malts with only a touch of the lime tartness at the very end. Overall, a decent-ish gose with more of the flavours shown as dry citrus and brine and less of anything else, but especially complexity. Easy to drink, but not showing much throughout. Not really worth trying to find unless you absolutely love the style or want to try all of Abita's products. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Fairfax, Virginia on 10-September-2017 for US$2,29 sampled at home in Washington on 23-December-2017.

12oz bottle. Hazy unfiltered orange-tan body. Thin, fading, white head. Big key lime aroma. Rather concise medium body, not a lot of depth. Somewhat sharp, dry, salty. Pretty decent offering.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/1/2017. Pours fairly hazy pale golden/yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tart lemon, key lime, citrus peel, pear, apple, white grape, coriander, sea salt, pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, limes, spices, and pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart lemon, key lime, citrus peel, pear, apple, white grape, coriander, sea salt, pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness; light fruit tang, yeast spiciness, and herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, key lime, citrus peel, pear, apple, white grape, coriander, sea salt, pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, limes, spices, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic, and fairly crisp/sticky/saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.1%. Overall this is a delicious Gose! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, limes, spices, and pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly lactic/spicy/drying finish. Not a ton of Lacto, but definitely adequate. This had a really great vibrancy on the key lime additions, and they fit perfectly with the base style. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Bottle: Cloudy, yellow-gold with a foamy white head. Sour/lactic, wheat and lime scent. Taste is, again....really lactic....lime....grains. A little briney sea salt, wheat malt. Would be pretty satisfying if not for the milky slickness and slight tang.... as it is, it’s tolerable....but just.
