In New Orleans, to-go cups mean the fun (and the beer) doesn’t have to stay inside the bar. To-Gose is Abita’s refreshing take on a traditional gose beer- a slightly salty and sour beer style. Brewed with malted wheat and barley and German Perle hops, fresh key limes are added during aging to create this sour ales wih hints of lime, coriander and sea salt

Bottle. Lime, biscuit malt, sour milk, salt, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with large white head. Moderate sweet-tart lime, biscuit malt, light sour lactic acid, and lightly bitter straw flavor. Very light body.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is not much. Some lime if you really stick your nose down into the glass. Flavor is salty and sweet. Again not much lime and there is a odd butterscotch aftertaste. Not real good.

Sample at Barley Hopsters. The beer pours a hazy yellow-gold color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with a tart citrusy character and notes of salt, doughy malt and a bit of hops. The finish is mildly tart with a lime aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from Js. Pours a clearish straw with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Skunky pils nose with grainy water aromas. Thin and watery on the palate. Very American wheat-like. Not much lime or salt. Watered down. Pass.

Finally an abita gose. Low %, sour and all shit. Bottle, fairly clear pale pour, smells like clean wet wool. Fresh, fairly clean easy to drink. Can’t really detect,or maybe just detect, salt, if any; mostly mild lime and hints of tartness. Not bad. Good cutting co2, clear to the end, exciting. Hoping for a hint more of tartness but I’m not disappointed, fer sher. Good refreshing overall decent abita experience, better than the average abita beer, good tasting stuff. Could drink a sixer of this and will try to get one, heheheh.

Seasoned salt, lime and lemon nose. Cloudy amber, medium head. Salt, paprika, dill, lemon. Subdued coriander finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Far too salty and spicy. Not one of my favorite examples of the style.
