Key Lime Pie is an American sour blonde ale brewed with Sorachi Ace hops, a Japanese variety with a unique lemon-lime citrus character. Also added in the brew are lactose and lime peel, which give the beer a complex sweet-tart interplay and a bold aroma of the beer’s namesake. The addition of lactobacillus gives the beer a slightly sour edge, and a generous malt bill provides a solid foundation with just a hint of graham cracker crust.

On draught at Frontier Brewing.

Pours a medium gold, clear, very short lasting head of foam.

The smell IS like key lime pie, including the crust.

Nice tart lemon, sweet pastry like taste..that's the crust. Easy level of tartness, made easier by the crusty flavour.

Light body but not watery.

Interesting.

I can't get over how much this smells and tastes like key lime pie. Sampled from a can this beer poured a hazy golden color with a large foamy yellow-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet and yeasty with pie crust and lime. The flavor was tart and sour with pie crust, lime and lemon. Very long finish. Medium body. Excellent.

Can. Ok, so it snot lime green, go figger. Smell is what? Not much, nothing sticking out. At first I think the taste is slightly artificial but then I change my mind; it does start to taste like key lime pie, no lie. Me and my sig tau fraternity brother, Tony McCune, were experts on the topic because of tequila junction in the station square, in Pgh, 1980. It was the coolest mexican food place in PGh at the time. Their chips were to die for, YES! So yes, not bad on this one.

Can, thanks to Unclemike. Mildly cloudy yellow with large fluffy off-white head, sharp lime/ascorbic acid aroma, medium carbonation, mildly sour taste with artificial feeling lime flavor, thin body, abrupt finish. The artificial lime flavor gives the sensation of drinking a lime soda, with vitamin C supplement.

12 oz. can. Pours a clear, dark gold color, with a big, fleeting, fizzy, white head. The aroma is lime peel, salt, yogurt, green apples, and syrup. Sweet flavor, with a light tart note coming forward, that gets stronger as it warms. Light body, with a thin and acidic mouthfeel. Nice concept, and it kinda works, but it's too light to pull it off. Seems more like a weak gose.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is lime and cream. Smells like key lime pie. Flavor is a whole lot of lime tartness. Like this was surprisingly tart. Finish does have some bready pie crust. This was a total gimmick beer but it kind of works. It smells and taste just like key lime pie, its just a bit to tart for my liking.

On tap at Grizzly’s. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of tart lime with graham cracker underlying. Flavor has a strong tart lime with sweet grains and graham cracker growing.

This beer far surpassed my expectations. Boring amber color but lime in the flavor and lightly tart lime in the flavor, some malt body, and a lime aftertaste. I have had other lime beers but this might be the best.

A tad on the sweet side, with lactose overshadowing any depth the malts themselves might have provided. Tastes like Key Lime Pie, sure, but too much like a bottle of Stewart’s Soda for comfort. Tart lime goes nicely with the moderate lacto sourness, and the graham and vanilla notes come through on the finish, but I can do without this much sugar in my beer. Refreshing, drinkable, but a one-timer.

Can. Vanilla, lime, graham, malt and straw aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Lightly sweet-tart lime, vanilla, graham, light malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Body on the light side. Succeeds in smelling and tasting like key lime pie.
