Inspired by a trip to Sedona with Jack, the "Booze Traveler", this primitive farmhouse ale is based on the ancient Finnish style of Sahti. Using Kveik yeast, black walnuts, walnut bark, and dried juniper we bring Arizona to life in this uniquely woody but fruity ale.

Pour at State of Origin 2018. Finally my first sahti and it doesn't disappoint. Pours a clearish copper with a finger of foam that lingers. Pine needles, juniper, mint, and bright berry dominate the nose. Some light oak and bark notes on the palate with more wild berry notes. Lingering bark and berry on the finish with fresh pine needle. --- Beer merged from original tick of Earthing the Vortex on 09 Jun 2018 at 18:54 - Score: 8

Pours a cloudy brown with an ecru head. Aroma of caramel. Flavors of cinnamon and juniper. Flavors are slightly sweet caramel. Interesting combination of flavors but I was taken by it.
