Piggy Brewing Co. Christmas Break Imperial Brown Ale 11% Deep brown verging on black with virtually no foam. Figs and dark chocolate with cacao and toffee notes. Full velvety body with surprising light Smokey toffee flavor then dark chocolate and caramelized fruitcake. Nice warmth radiates from my belly from the ABV but in the mouth it’s silky smooth. Really nice and a total surprise as I know nothing about this French Brewery brought over by Dig the Line.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Verksgt., Stavanger. ABV is 11%. Dark brown colour, moderate to small beige head. Malty but very unfresh aroma, notes of vomit and poo. The flavour is better, but still somewhat unfresh. Malty and sweet with caramel, hints of Christmas spices. Warming mouthfeel. A pity with the aroma.

Tap @ Bøker og Børst. Rather clear, deep brown body with a nice, dense, tan head. Surprisingly light in aroma considering the strength, kind of nutty with brown sugar with almost no sign of alcohol. Taste is sweet brown malt, brown sugar, toast, boozy alcohol and harsh bitterness. Full bodied with lots of aftertaste similar to the rest of the taste. Just too sweet and boozy for me.

Bottle shared with JMD on board Fridtjofen 10.12.19. Dark brown. Small pale brown head. Sweet aroma and taste of dark chocolate, liquorice, dates, cough medicine and herbs. Oily mouthfeel.

Mokkafarget filmskum. Nøttearoma. Oljeaktig munnfølelse. Smaken ekstremt innholdsrik. Kokos. Julefrukt. Sjokolade. Tørr avslutning. Det perfekte koseølet i jula.

Two 330ml bottles bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Shared with friends. Near black in the glass, spotty lacing from a low beige head. Appealing aromas of well roasted dark malts with notes of coffee and chocolate. The taste profile follows suit with roasted dark malt, impact of choco-coffee, and added by dried fruits. Lingering roasted malty ending, mid-sweet and rather dry. Full bodied and rounded, warming mouthfeel. Excellent Yuletide sipper. (The winner of Den Store Juleøltesten, Gleipner, Tromsø 22.11.2019).
