Flesje gekregen van Benzai. Goudgeel helder bier. Stevig schuimend bij inschenken. Schuim blijft redelijk staan. Aroma is hoppig en fruitig. Smaak is citrusachtig en kruidig. Nasmaak is bitter.

Fles gedeeld door Benzai, het is een heerlijk blond bier met een medium schuimkraag. Het heeft een frisse citrus smaak. Een lekker bier voor een zomerse dag.

Blond colour with lasting head. Aroma has some coriander and yeast. Flavour is similar but with an added bitterness in the finish.

Very good off-white head over hazy blonde-golden beer. Coriander bomb, fake citrus. Again coriander in the mouth, oxydized cookies, old antimacassars. Sweet finish. Medium bodied, well-carbonated, (coriander)slick. Ouch. The Infernal Weed strikes again!

Bottle @ home. A bit hazy yellow color, full sized white to off-white head that lasts for quite a long time. Smell and taste lightly malts, quite some herbs or spices, herbal hops, quite bitter. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle shared. Cloudy orange with a small off white head. Aroma of yeast, herbs, coriander, light floral notes, light malt and yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

33cl bottle shared with Kermis. Very thin white head. Very hazy golden pour. An ok blond

Commissioned Belgian blonde with very thick and rocky, papery, coarse, snow white head and deep and ’pure’ golden colour with a thin ’suspension’ of yeast bits as well as lively sparkling. Aroma of gooseberry, dry hay, banana, freshly cut grass, radish, baker’s yeast, soapy coriander seed, honey, dried wormwood, chamomille, white pepper, raw pineapple, unripe green plum, sandwiches, dry earth, minerals, dried old lemon peel. Very spritzy onset, lots of minerally and ’souring’ carbo to being sharply overcarbonated, distracting from its basic ’dried fruit’ character, pairing subtle banana sweetishness with unripe berry sourness; spicy phenolic yeastiness too, but well in place compared with this fruitiness and the undercurrent of grainy, lightly bready, dryish malts. Evolves into a drying, notably hop bitter finish, very earthy and spicy, with retronasal floral and grassy notes and being so effective that it all but halts the maltiness - going down very dry and bittering, with just enough ’juiciness’ to keep it pleasant and with (too much) soapy bittersweet coriander lingering afterwards. Nice surprise actually: I expected another boring and overly sweet ’terrasjesblond’, but this beer is utterly crisp, dry, bitter and earthy to the point that I would make a case for calling it a saison in the purest sense of the word. It is a very strange phenomenon these days that saison-like beers simply call themselves ’Belgian ale’ (or blonde) and vice versa - another argument supporting my theory that nobody really knows what ’saison’ means. If this term is to be applied to quenching, earthy, dry, hay- and barnyard-like, crisp blonde Belgian ales, then this is more an accomplishment than many other attempts I have encountered in the past year.

Bottle at Gollem Antwerp. Pours bit hazy blonde. Smell is sweet, taste is mildly bitter, with mild spice flavors. Hints of coriander. High carbo. Aftertaste is grainy. Hidden aspects of honey, more prominent in the scent than the taste. Very common taste, but not bad at all
