Pour is a clear tan with a large white head. Aroma is some toasted malt with sweet caramel. Flavor is about the same. Some toasted malt and a sweet caramel finish. A bit thin but workable. One of those beers where I can believe I have not rated yet.

Swing-top bottle 50cl. @home poured into a glass tankard. Clear medium amber colour, good moussy white head, good retention, fair lacing. Aroma light roasted malts, caramel, grain, biscuit. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, biscuit, slight roast. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, bitter notes till the end, a solid märzen, easy to drink, nice.

Draught at Gourmet Haus. Pours clear copper-mahogany with creamy, off-white head. Malty aroma and bready flavor. Flavor falls off quickly. A bit of minerality.

0.5 l bottle stol Akos' stash. Clear golden to dark golden, small off-white head. Malty, worty, sugary, caramelly. Sweet, malty, caramely, mineral, some vegetables. Light body, soft carbonation, too sweet, light finish. This could've really been so much better.

11.2 oz. (330ml) bottle, 5.8% ABV, Best By: 03.23

AROMA: A bit sour at first but then sweetens. Light scents of brown sugar, malt, banana, caramel, and lemon. As the beer warms, the sweetness level amplifies a bit. Which I really enjoyed because the brown sugar and caramel scents become easily detectable (and delectable).

APPEARANCE: Pours a clear, dark-amber with an off-white head that dissipates very quickly, with no lacing. I gotta be honest, I am a bit disappointed with the head, as it is almost non-existent and has no lacing. I'm wondering if I just got a "flat" bottle, or if this is the way it is supposed to be. I bought a six-pack, so I'll update my rating if I find that other bottles are better than this one.

Okay, I couldn't resist and just poured another one. This time the head is much fuller and dissipates at a moderate pace. So there must have been an issue with my first bottle. However, there is still no lacing to speak of.

TASTE: Initially it is on the sweet side with flavors of fig, malt, and brown sugar. That is then followed by flavors of slightly burnt caramel (a little sweet, a little bitter). The finish is on the dry side and has a little more of that caramel sweetness (right at the back of the throat), but I also get some lemon sourness.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a slightly tacky texture. Carbonation seems a little less than your average beer. Which might explain the relatively poor head.

OVERALL: The flavor is on the borderline of what I would consider "subdued". However, it is fairly well-balanced, and more flavor comes out as the beer warms. When I initially tasted this beer right out the fridge, I was not very impressed. But, as it warmed, I started to like it a lot better. To get the best out of this beer, I would suggest serving it no colder than about 65 degrees F. Once I did that, I found that I quite enjoyed the beer, as it went down easy with a nice flavor and reminded me of some of my favorite Oktoberfest beers that I enjoy during the Fall.

Bottle. Nose is caramel, grain, sugared nuts. Taste is cramel, malt, chewy nuts, slightly herbal hops, spicey finish. Soft mouthfeel.
