Bottle at home. As Vincent Donker. Aroma is sweet dark malt, caramel, ripe dark fruit, berries, yeast, some spicy notes, nice touch of coffee in the finish and a hint of cocoa. Flavour is sweet. Body is medium, has a fair creamy smoothness to it. Quite sweet Doppelbock for my taste, but I like the subtle coffee notes. *** Re-rate, tricked by the change in name. Not as good as when I had it under the other name in 2016.

330ml bottle at Cloos, Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium brown colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt, light toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, roasty, nutty, toffee, light grassy hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Tasty.

330ml bottle. Hazy, brown colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, minimally lacing, sulphureous, beige head. Caramel and chocolately, malty aroma, hints of milk chocolate, toffee, nougat, a fruity touch of plum, roasty coffee overtones. Taste is sweet, caramel malty, yeasty fruity, bitter and slightly fruity hoppy, notes of caramel, a touch of nougat and toffee, hints of plum, fig, cherry, subtle hints of coffee, a minimally alcoholic touch. Slightly oily texture, smooth and soft palate, medium, soft, still prickly carbonation. Sweet malty, but with bitter hoppy counterpart and very refreshing fruitiness, well balanced overall; furthermore well matching, if delayed, coffee flavours - a very, very nice Doppelbock.

Donkerbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is redelijk zoet en licht bitter met duidelijk iets van zachte chocolade, wat karamel, noten en zoet fruit. Erg fijn bier.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 14 Feb 2019) Reddish brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dark bread, toast and dried fruit. Malty taste with dark bread, dried fruit, raisins, prunes and a mild spicy bitterness. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.
