The love between Femme Fatale and Bon Homme issued a sprog! The first triple beer by Brewery De Leite was born. The couple baptised their first offspring under the name ‘Enfant Terriple’. A ‘unpredictable’ playful beer. (do you see the pun with ‘triple’?). The Enfant Terriple is a ‘devilishly’ sunny blond beer of 8.2 volume with a playful nose. A subtle bitterness with a faint-fine citrus touch that is enveloped in a sober spicy malt taste. The agreeable bitterness lingers long. For connoisseurs with a bright outlook on life.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at One Pint Pub, 20170407) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, honey, grass and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, fruitiness, honey, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, hoppy and bitter. A decent tripel with some harsh undertones.

330ml bottle [almost lost bottle originating from premiere (?) trade with bartlebier - thanks for this one and everything else that should follow!]. Cloudy, amber colour with average, frothy, to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, fruity and minimally bready, malty aroma, notes of apricot, peach, mirabelle - a bit weak overall. Taste is moderately sweet, fruity, malty, notes of apricot, peach, mirabelle, hoppy counterweight with a grassy and leafy touch and mild bitterness; oily texture, soft, smooth and creamy palate. Very nice, mild and balanced, a bit unobtrusive, cautious though.

Capricieux ! Tel est l’adjectif choisi par les créateurs de cet Enfant Terriple de la brasserie de Leite. Une chose est certaine, ce garnement a du tempérament, lui! En verre, sa couleur blond couplée à une forte opacité lui confère une robe tournant au merisier (EBC 6). L’effervescence est marquée et la mousse crémeuse, a une épaisseur d’un centimètre et demi environ. Le nez est classique pour une triple sur le citron, la coriandre et les céréales. Dès l’attaque notre terreur s’affirme. Des arômes épicés mêlés à ceux de céréales et d’orange s’imposent d’emblée. La deuxième bouche ne vient qu’amplifier cette première approche. L’amertume est d’une belle intensité (EBU de 48) et la corpulence très bien trouvée. Les épices ont une présence en bouche extrêmement marquée, mais de façon capricieuse et surprenante, l’intensité des arômes laisse une impression de vibrato en bouche. L’alcool (8,2 % abv), bien dosé s’affirme par la suite davantage, laissant également des arômes d’orange et whisky se fixer au palais. L’amertume est très longue en bouche avec une présence poivrée se dénotant sur l’extrême final. Le sucre est quant à lui bien intégré, permettant d’arrondir les arômes. En conclusion, cette triple de chez De Leite est originale voire déstabilisante mais très intéressante gustativement. L’homogénéité de l’ensemble pourrait cependant encore être travaillé pour obtenir une très grande bière. NB ; je retire tout de même un point pour l’utilisation de riz dans la recette...

33cl bottle. Pours slightly hazy orange golden colour with a huge good lasting off-white head. Aroma of pale fruits, bread, spices. Taste of metallic hops, spices, ripe fruits, bread, metallic finish.

75 cl bottle. Hazy golden, huge white fluffy head, leaving lots of lacings. Aroma is herbal, yeast, citrus, cut grass, hay. Taste is malty and gum like at first, citrus, phenolic yeasty grassy bitterness, slight marzipan, dry finish, slight alcohol tone. Medium to big body, medium carbo, sharp bubbles. Well made.

Cloudy deep golden colour, tall fluffy off-white head, half-way lasting, good lacing. Aroma malty, fruity (orange, pineapple, peach), yeast, light ginger. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, fruity, hint of honey, light toffee and spicy notes. Long sweetbitter aftertaste with fruity and spicy accents, medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Not your regular tripel, delicate, well-balanced, very nice.
