9th Aug 2018; on-tap at the brewery. Dark, dark brown, light brown crown. Malty nose with a rustic twist, taste similar; malty with a slight farmyard addition. Some semi-sweet caramel flavours arrive mid-sip, mild hop bitterness for balance towards the finish.

Tap at a local restaurant. Beer in the glass deep black, huge head. Nice malty smokey aroma. Starts mild, malty, modest dry. A bit sweetish. Also with some smokey hints. Well balanced finish, soft malty, still mild. Quite drinkable. Not bad!

Draught, 4.8% @ the brewpub. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable, creamy tan head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and yeast, with touches of roast and hops. Roasty flavour with touches of hops and sweet notes of caramel malt. Hints of yeast and coffee. Lingering, roasty and malty aftertaste. Well-balanced and tasty. A very decent Schwarzbier!
