(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 25 July 2017) Reddish brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, smoky nose with caramel, dark bread, smoke and some tar. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dark bread, sweet malt, bread, raisins and a gentle smoke flavour. Mild bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, with a balanced smokiness. Quite nice.

Clear reddish amber colour, white head. Sour aroma, yoghurt, smoke, basically smoky yoghurt. Light sour flavour, red berries, smoky hint. Finish smoky yoghurt. Not quite what I was expecting.
(from 33cL bottle @ my Cologne hideout. From a Venlo alternative supermarket)

Tap at NBPF. Hazy light brown with off white head. Quite some smoke, light caramel, malts, ham, light herbs and flowers. Medium sweet, bitter and bodied. I don’t like smoked beers too much but this is fairly decent.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 6B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown (BBF 06/2017). AROMA: predominant medium smoke aroma with a very faint malt background. APPEARANCE: amber color and cristal clear. medium ivory moussy head with medium-low retention. TASTE: medium-low smoke flavor with a very faint to non-existant malt note, slightly sweet. medium-low bitterness with an almost dry and slightly smoky finish. PALATE: medium-light to light body. medium-low to low carbonation. OVERALL: a rauchbier a bit on the dilluted side with very poor malt presence.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ W. van Schaik, Vianen. Clear light brown with an off-white head. Smoky malty aroma with a meaty smoked ham or bacon touch. Sweet taste with just enough smoke to make it interesting and not too much to become overpowering. Quit well done.
