650mL bottle, sent from ratyger (thanks a lot, Sam), pours jet black with a medium brown head. Aroma brings out roasted malts, chalk, espresso, and charcoal. Flavour is robust, with loads of roasted malt, espresso, chalk, and some cocoa. Very robust and somewhat sludgy, with a roasty, espressoy finish. Great stuff.

(Draught at Bar Hop, Nov 1 2013) Pours black with a large dark brown head. Smells like a chocolate and dried fruit heavy RIS; roast, malt sweetness, bittersweet chocolate, booze. Flavour follows the nose; chocolate, dried fig, black dark roast coffee. Flavour is rich in chocolate malt, slight fruit, roast bitterness, bit of hops. Very rich and full mouthfeel, almost feels like nitro, creamy and dense with a very soft carb and no detectable alcohol. Delicious. Very much to style but a lovely take on a traditional RIS.

A deep dark stout with a thin browwn head. In aroma, nice chocolate with notes of licorice, alcohol warmth and dark fruits. In mouth, nice musty chocolate with powdery qualities, licorice, dark fruits, grassy hops and alcohol warmth.

Aroma of booze and a little roast malt. Has some smoked peat smell and some dark chocolate. Palate is average. Pours dark without much head or lacing. Slightly below average carbonation, fine for style. Finishes boozy bitter. On tap at brewpub.
