Unfiltered German-style Helles
Marie-Ange (1907 – 1996) is our maternal great-grandmother, fondly remembered as Mémé. Born in Quebec, she emigrated to the Northeast Kingdom with her husband Edward J. Fournier. In her honor, we brew a beautifully soft, Unfiltered and naturally carbonated German-style Helles. Lightly hazy, naturally carbonated and truly enjoyable, this is the beer we dream to have shared with Marie.

Half pour on draft at Henry St. Taproom, Saratoga Springs. Lightly hazy golden yellow, trace sparkle, ring of head and no lacing. Aroma is strong grains and minerals. Taste is strong grains, light dark fruit, hint of brown bread. Smooth, frothy texture, lively carbonation and finish as taste. Excellent strength and nice fruity aspect to flavor. Over carbonated but about as good as you’ll find the style.

Tap at The Grand Delancey. A pretty tasty helles, albeit the carbonation could’ve been more prickly, it’s got a fairly intense spicyness, and there was an interesting stickyness on the palate.

From tap at Carmine Street Beers, New York. Lovely grainy grassy aroma with hay, straw, cereal malt, and fruity notes. Light to moderate sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Incredible Helles Lager, best I've ever had.

Pours a clean, light golden colour with a frothy white cap, average stay and some tiny foam spots left on the glass. Yeasty aromas with some decent spiciness and herbal notes. Crisp mouthfeel with a nice, mild dryness in the finish. The malt is nicely balanced with the yeast in the taste. Hints of apples, pears with a touch of herbs. Quite a good, refreshing Helles with a tad more hops from the German side, and the yeast playing a big roll.

Notes from 10/23/17 Half pour at Upright Brew House. Chill hazed, straw-colored, leggy brew. Smell is dry malt with a tiny bit of astringency/Asprin. Taste is toasty, light, and determined to be dry. Grain, veg, sediment. Mild sweetness. Dusty & salivating. Perfect carbonation. Pretty quaffable.

Tap at the monks cafe in Philadelphia PA. A very clear pale golden yellow coloured pour with a frorhy white head. Aroma is earthy cereal, grass waxy, green apple gooseberry. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, simple cereal, spelt, corn, light grassy, herbal. Palate is semi crisp, rounded. Corny. Simple, well done.
