Last of our 20th Birthday beers! Espresso stout, brewed in just the same way as our original sultry dark ale but with hefty additions of freshly ground coffee and lactose for a full-bodied, extravagantly bitter-sweet tipple

On cask at Cloisters. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely off white head. Nose - smoke and coffee. Burnt and smoky. Charcoal. Taste - coffee and rich chocolate. Tonnes of smoke and charcoal again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good for the low ABV.

Cask-conditioned at the Shakespeare, Sheffield 18/1/2017. Near black in colour, with a decent, beige, head. Coffee beans, plain chocolate and liquorice, with plenty of toasty malts and a touch of lactose in the dryish finish. Enjoyable.
