Barrel-Aged Barleywine
The soul of Barleywine channeled through vivifying bourbon barrels and blended with an alchemist's touch. Summon notes of caramel, stone fruit, brown sugar, and vanilla with each generous swirl.

Bottle sampled at a tasting. From notes. Vanilla and caramel with oaky bourbon, dark fruit and a little chocolate. Awesome.

Share courtesy of dak. The 22oz bomber is labeled Straight Jacket. It pours with a deep murky copper body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The aroma offers up pine hop nuanced sweet sticky malts as well as dark fruity esters and a light degree of bourbon booze. The taste has sweet malts, some pine hops, prunes and raisins. Behind those notes lurks a sweet bourbon booze sensation that is blending into the hoppy and estery notes perfectly. I love a great sipper where the barrel character adds and deepens the experience. Yes!

Thanks Adam M for the bottle. 2012 (woodford barrels) edition enjoyed at 60F in a wine glass
A - Burnt amber hues, light head fades fast
S - I can smell sweet booziness on the pour from 2 feet away. Loads of very sweet nectar of bourbon. Drank some Woodford Reserve before pouring this and there are a lot of similarities in the sweetness, oak and coconut.
T - WOW. This is something really special! It is a very sweet beer but the oak, smoke and brown sugar balance it out. Thereβs a toffee taste with hints of caramel and vanilla sweetness at the finish. This lingers for a very long time after finishing.
M - Decent carbonation on the mouth swish, heavy body...heavy swish leads to a cotton candy taste
O - This is a fantastic beer! Not my favorite barleywine bt wow.

Bottle shared at RBWG. Clear dark amber, thin tan head. The aroma is boozy, brown sugar and roast malt. The flavor is sweet, smooth, alcohol. This would age nicely I think,

Bottle at RBWG in the lobby. Pours clear amber with a fine, creamy cap. Huge sweetness, toffee, ripe fruits, bread. Full bodies with fine carbonation. Hot finish, rich toffee, bitter leaves, sugary bread. Heavy duty.

Chunky amber-brown-black body. Lacy beige head. Rugged vanilla bean bourbon aroma. Rich, sweet, highly complex, relatively drinkable for the ABV too. Sugary smooth molasses richness. Deep vanilla. World Class, this is quite impressive, which it should be for 9.00 a mini snifter. Really quite smooth on the palate, an excellent slow sipper. Mild distant vanilla edged warmth in the finish. Deep bourbon resinous awesomeness.

Sampled at the brewpub. Pours a hazy brown with a bit of an amber hue and a yellowish tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is sweet with grains and caramel backed by sweet barrel and a hint of fruit. Flavor begins with sweet grains and is joined by caramel and vanilla as well as a hint of bourbon.
