As with all sour ales, the initial sip wakes up your dull senses. There is an elevated level of Acetic Acids working their magic in this beer. The first sip assaults the palate in an enamel stripping bottom of the pH chain sort of way. In Belgian brewing there are fantastic wild ales brewed with naturally occurring yeast. These beers develop over time and are ready on their own terms.
Duck Duck Gooze is our homage to these effervescent and wonderfully complex sparkling beers.A blend of young and old barrel aged beers, this has been one of our most sought after beers year after year since it’s original release in 2009. Alas, it is released in very small quantities only once every three years, so it’s extremely difficult to come by beyond the day we release it. It does, however, turn up on our Tasting Room’s Vintage List from time to time, so don’t despair.

Sampled this at a sour tasting that Tomme Arthur showed up at out of the blue at. Poured like a hazy orange color, with virtually no head whatsoever. Aroma was very mellow, but when I actually took notes the beer may have been a bit cool out of the fridge. Don’t remember what it was like once it warmed a bit so, darn it. Flavor was a bit tart, with some light ester notes. Perhaps some earthy notes to it?

Ausgewogen säuerlicher Beginn, der im Mittelteil etwas stärker aber deutlich trockener wird. (Gering) süß-säuerlich, kurz brennend, wenig bitter, ausgewogen, süffig. 11/11/13/11/14/11

Unclear yellow beer with a fine white rim. Pretty sour nose, like unripe grapes, and Bretts’ galore. Clean sourish flaovur, with a nice retronasal smokey, sulphuric flavour, which makes it resemble and old, lightly saccharinated gueuze. Remarkable balance. Refreshing, wheatslickness, better bodied than expected. Slight acidburn. Very nice try. Nose promises punch of acids, but it turns out milder on tasting. Many thanks to Evan & Matt!

enjoyed during 2011 RBWG bottle pours hazy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is semi-sweet and I swear I smell lemonheads. Flavor is mellow in the fact that it’s not too acidic or vingary in nature, but easily one of the tartest beers at the tasting. Tart lemon juice, peel, bitter wood elements. Nice stuff.

Big thanks to Dan or sharing this one! Poured a hazy gold with a white head that dissipated completely. Aroma was full of very sour fruits (nearing acetone) with a bit of lemon with some funk. Flavor has a great sour fruit note with some lemon and oak coming through with just a hint of backing funk.
