Bottled from deciccos. Dark pour. Tan head takes a bit to settle. Roasty roasty malts and light bitter finish. Good.

2016 vintage bottle at home. Pours jet black with a two-finger beige head. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and licorice. Taste is surprisingly fruity licorice upfront, then the coffeeish, chocolatey, roasted earthy malts take over. Light to medium bitterness and somewhat bitter with a savory touch from the licorice. Closes with that fruity licorice character and dark chocolate, has a light to medium yet pretty rich (especially for the ABV) and soft carbo.

jet black nice brown head, nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is all roasted malt, and a hint of smoke. Flavour is again alot of roasted malt, chocolate, a hint of smoke and coffee. nice mouthfeel, overall excellent stout, but i still dont think it beats the St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle at home. Aroma is roasted malt, liquorice, bit burnt, dark chocolate, espresso, touch of vanilla. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and bitter. Body is medium. I’m not the worlds biggest fan of beers that are heavy on liquorice, but this has plenty of other flavours to enjoy such as dark chocolate and coffee.

Backlog September 2011. Good looking dark body under a nice, creamy beige head. Strong aroma of dark, roasted malt, coffee, meat bouillon and some chocolate. Taste has sweet, roasted dark malt, chocolate, coffee, some fruity hops and hint of bouillon. Balanced body with long lasting, pleasant aftertaste. Nice one.

Single from that chaotic mix-a-six section @Ingles. Pint glass at home. Black with brown highlights, hearty malt-colored, sticky, lingering head. Sharp coffee, charred carob, murky veg nose. Frothy, milky, bittergreen coffee & some earthy, unsweet, twiggy chocolate. Stiff pine bitterness long through the finish. Always great. Notes from May 2009 4.4 Batch 8861 I've received this a few times over in trades but never really sat down with one. Poured into a Sly Fox shaker/paperweight. It glugs the consistency of cola, but it's as dark in the glass as a bucket of molasses. A faltering, dark sand head pushes up mellow scents of condensed milk, almond liquor, & light smoke. Good bitter roast, great beaded carbonation. A bit burnt toast, Lactose is lighthearted, but gives it just enough to turn the bitterness away. A shaving of bark & dark chocolate. Slight hint of coffee & grain on the finish. Maybe a little oxidation, but that's probably my fault. It trades off a little body for drinkability, but that's just nitpicking. It's obviously a great beer.
