Crooked Coast is inspired by the original Alt-style beer of Dusseldorf; “Alt” is German for “old” and the style a vestige of the days before lager yeast was discovered, when ales were what German Brewers produced. A marriage of the aromas of both German noble hops and caramel Munich malt, this quintessential session beer is defined by its delicate malt-hop balance.

Bottle - Grains, some hops and sweet malt. Clear amber with a bubbly full off white head. Grains and some light brown sugar sweetness, a quick hit of bitterness and finishes on the grains again. Creamy taste but light on the tongue. My first Alt, but I will definitely seek out more.

On tap. Pours amber with nice persistent head. Aromas of fruit, citrus, and a bit of bubblegum. Flavors of malt and ripe stoned fruit with piney notes and bitter finish.

Has a decent amber-gold body with a good layer of head on top. Okay sharp hoppy aroma like the Belgians do. Flavour is a bitter malt with plenty of hops and a dry finish; no sweetness at all, which I find a little odd but not entirely bad. Not too complex, however; and I’d prefer just a touch of sweetness to keep the tastebuds fully satisfied.

Golden-amber with a thin head. Somewhat flowery with earthy, caramelly character. Smooth malty character, light caramel and toast with some floral notes. Not altbier at all, no matter what they say.

Bottle. Fruity malt aroma. Dark cloudy amber, lacing head. Light dry roast, fruity base, a hint citric hops. Medium to light body, mellow mouthfeel Lacks a little bit oomph to be a alt, most German ones I had had a herbal or heatherlike quality to them and a bit more body. but not bad at all.
