Madagascar is a far from traditional stout, made with a very high wheat content and additions of whole Madagascar vanilla pods late in the boil and during fermentation. Brewed with English hops, there is a balance of subtle flavours meaning the beer is surprisingly drinkable, smooth and satisfying. Great with desserts and cheeses, this is a beer for those occasions when you crave a break from the norm.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Aroma of vanilla, coffe and chocolate ice-cream. Flavour of wood, rich malts, vanilla sponge and dark chocolate. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. Sweet but not cloying. Very good.

This might actually be a reincarnation of the vanilla stout- not sure. Anyway bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark brown to black and opaque. Thin head disappears quickly.Nose - coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Taste - cold strong bitter coffee and vanilla. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry elegant finish. Overall - really very enjoyable.
