Something darks lurks beneath this surface of this beer. We've taken the classic British stout and made it even darker with loose leaf Lapsang Souchong provided by our friends Storm Tea. Expect smokey undercurrents in this dark and stormy pint.
‘A heavy-hitting stout with a smokey Lapsang Souchong black heart.'

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden, London, 24 Nov 2019) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark bread and a touch of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, mild notes of smoked ham and a balanced coffee bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty stout with a gentle smoke touch. Nice one.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 25th November 2019. Solid black with tan foam and spot lacing. Rich and intense coffee roast malt aroma with smokiness. Roasty peaty malts in-mouth with log fire woodsmoke. A very satisfying smoky roasty malt finish, medium body and an engaging texture. Exquisite.

Cask at The Reindeer, Norwich. It pours black with a decent tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, ashy, big smoked bacon action, honey and candied ham. The taste is smooth, rich roasted malt, earth, big smoked character, black tea, tangy, dark fruit and eccles cake with dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice smoked stout.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - very smoky. Almost smoked dish. Taste - definitely smoked fish. Fish sauce even. Palate - was going to mention the body and texture but the fish thing is a massive put off. Overall - like drinking kippers.
