Our flagship beer and rapidly gaining cult classic status. Our take on stout with its name reflecting its colour and strength. Super smooth, rich and creamy on the palate with a long dry finish. Dangerously easy to drink Malts – pale, crystal, chocolate, roast barley, wheat and torrified wheat. Hops – East Kent goldings

3rd December 2024
Cask at Pig's Ear. Near opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate, good fine minerally carbonation. Smooth but rich malts, good creamy sweetness, earthy roast, modest choc, no so modest smooth earthy coffee. A little berry ripe fruits. Touch of lavender or something. Liked this one a lot, smooth, richly flavoured and very drinkable.

Keg at MSBH. It pours near black with a thick, frothy light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, umami, dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate action, charred, umami, tobacco and cacao nibs. The taste is slick, oily, toothy, chewy, toothy, umami, spice, charred, dark, burnt toast, umami, spice, warming booze cracked black pepper and some liquorice with a dry, bitter roast finish. Fulsome and moderate carbonation, foamy carbonation..Pretty intense.

Creamy light brown head left a large froth on a near black body. Toffee, berries & malt aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & clean. Malt, burnt, liquorice & berry tastes with a bitter pithy finish. That's a proper good stout.

Cask at the Paisley Beer Festival 2016. Pours opaque dark brown with a thin ring of tan head. Aromas of liquorice, coffee. Taste is coffee, chocolate. Thin finish for the strength, but not bad.
