Our Christmas seasonal and collaboration with local artisan chocolatier, Baravelli’s of Conwy. This is a full-bodied, dark ale brewed with cocoa nibs, orange peel and milk sugar. Bitter orange peel is added at the end of the boil and freshly roasted cocoa nibs are added at the end of fermentation.

Bottle courtesy of Geraint and Helen (cheers you two!)consumed at home whilst cooking Conchiglioni with Salmon and Dill and a Pannatonne Bread and Butter Pudding for dessert. Pours black with a beige head, looks good. Perhaps I’ve served this a tad too cold, however you can still pick out some roasty notes and a little tangerine. A little roasty a touch of cocoa dusting, citrussyness, it’s good. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

Bottle at Appellation Wines tasting. Clear dark brown body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of burnt toast and plain chocolate. Flavour of Marmite and dark chocolate. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Not very orangey but there’s a nice burnt bitterness.

330ml bottle from Stori, Bala. Pours dark with large frothy tan head. Aroma of smoke, dark malts and dark chocolate. Taste is moderately smooth with bitter dark chocolate and dark malts. Like the BBNO chocolate orange stout I had recently this lacks orange flavours, altho I do get some mirage-like jaffa cake zest on the finish. Decent.
