The thing about First Frontier is the hops. Easy… This is an IPA “the American way”, no sticky-sweet malt profile, just the real deal potent and aromatic hops. The result is a refreshingly dry, fresh and bitter IPA, heavily dryhopped with the three American hop varieties warrior, simcoe and centennial, dealing a punch of citrus, peach and grapefruit from the deepest of our hearts directly to ya face. Just added a bit of caramel malt; merely to harness and balance the alcohol.

Udgangspunktet for First Frontier er at skabe en IPA ”the american way”, uden en kvalm sød maltprofil, der fjerner fokus fra det IPA egentlig handler om, nemlig potent og aromatisk humle. Resultatet er en dejlig tør, frisk og bitter IPA, der er hårdt tørhumlet med de tre amerikanske humlesorter Warrior, Simcoe og Centennial, som giver noter af citrus, fersken og grapefrugt. Tilføjet er en smule karamel malt, der blot er tilstede for at tøjle og afbalancere alkoholen, der befinder sig på 7,1%.

Brown bottle, 33 cl, via Importations Privées Bièropholie (merci Hughes!), savoured on November 26, 2013; eye: orangey, semi-hazy, no effervescence, tiny ring of beige head, nice lacing; nose: malt, hops, tea, leafy, resin; mouth: malt, hops, tea, leafy, resin, mild astringency, dry finale in hops with presence of malt, medium body, average carbonation, mildly bitter, harsh texture; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 33 cl, via Importations Privées Bièropholie (merci Hughes!), savourée le 26 novembre 2013; œil : orangée, semi-voilée, pas d’effervescence, petit anneau de mousse beige, bonne dentelle; nez : malt, houblon, thé, feuillu, résine; bouche : malt, houblon, thé, feuillu, résine, astringence moyenne, finale sèche en houblon avec présence de malt, corps moyen, carbonatation moyenne, moyennement amère, texture rugueuse; en résumé : correct

Gulbrun med høyt hvitt skum. Bitter sitrus og plommelukt. Bitter grapefrukt. Skikkelig lang god bitter ettersmak.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika. Pours deep golden to amber with a lasting off-white head. Hoppy and fruity aroma with pine,citrus, tropical fruits, citrus and hints of grass. Moderate sweet with nice hoppy flavours and a dry finish with a citrusy bitterness. Medium body with carboantion slightly on the softer side. Pleasant and refreshing IPA.

Bardzo aromatyczne IPA po dunsku. Piana spora i trwala, swietny posmak biszkoptowo-herbatnikowy, w zapachu dojrzale cytrusy, wanillia i swieze zebrane zboza. Alkohol ukryty, metnosc na przyzwoitym poziomie. Puszne IPA

Bottle at home. Has a cloudy orange color with a medium off-white-colored foam. Fruity hops in the aroma with hints of lemon, hay, perfume and a little caramel, pine needles and grapefruit. The taste has more of the grassy hops with grapefruit in the background. Fine and smooth mouthfeel, and bitterness ranging from medium to heavy level. This beer provides a real hoppy punch (perhaps a little too much), and has a nice aroma.

Bottle. Cloudy orange with a thin head, ok lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit. Flavour is sharp bitter hop, some fruit but mostly bitterness. Long slightly sour fruit palate.

Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is kind of neutral, leafs, grass, hops, wet grain. Taste is harsh grassy, wet leafs, wet grass, bark, hops, wet grain, resiny pine needles, minerals, sap. Longlasting harsh bitterness. Boring!
