Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double the flavor and alcohol. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "The Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us).

Draught @ Milk and Hops. Clear dark orange with very small frothy off-white head, faint orange peel aroma, low carbonation, hoppy taste with initial sweetness, smooth body, long bitter orange peel finish. Very smooth and flavorful.

On tap at Beertemple, Amsterdam. Hazy orange pour with an off-white head. Notes of pine resin, citrus hops, a lot of caramelised malts. A delicious Imperial IPA, maybe just a bit alcoholic, and definitely not sessionable.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - pours orange amber with a white head. Aroma and taste comprises sweet tropical fruits, prominent grapefruit, tangerine, citric peel, big sweet malty backbone, caramel, toffee, resinous herbal hoppy, pine needles, bitter finish. Beast of a IIPA.

Hazy orange color with big white head. So much spruces, grapefruit, cat piss. Tastes like a Tannenzapfen in syrup. Huge residual sweetness, oily mouthfeel. Crazy. It’s got it all, but doesn’t fit together perfectly.

Bottle - Vintage 2007 - Sweet caramel, orange and spice. Cleanish copper with a little beige head. Flowery, rose, and nice caramel notes. Great for the age.

12 fl oz bottle. Hazy dark amber colour, tan foam head leaving lots of lacing and aroma of caramel, citrus and pine. Taste is malt caramel with orange & grapefruit citrus, woody pine, with hop resin spicy earthy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry boozy bitter finish. Very drinkable DIPA.

Bottle from Beers’n’more. Pours clear amber, little head. Quite a weak nose for a DIPA, but still full of aroma. I haven’t tried the "normal" Crooked Tree, so I can’t really compare, but this one is full in every other sense. Taste, hops, malts, alcohol. Still, all this doesn’t quite combine to something extraordinary to make a superb beer.
