Engelsmännen humlade ölen som skeppades från England kraftigt för att klara den långa transporten till Indien. India pale ale (IPA) blev populär även på hemmaplan.

Dubbel-IPA är på 2010-talet en av de mest populära öltyperna.

330ml bottle from Systembolaget, e-beställning. Shared with Finn. Poor lacing from a frothy, bubbly, white head. Misty golden body. Fruit hoppy aroma, vapour of sweat. Apricot, stone fruit, sweat and malts in the flavour character. On the sweet side of bittersweet endnotes. Quite heavy to drink. Has got its moments of partially joyful beer drinking (session in Tromsø, 27.09.2012).

Flaske 0,33l fra Systembolaget, e-beställning. Kjøpt sammen med Rune og delt under rateseanse hos meg 27 Sep 12. Gyldenbrun. Uklar. Høyt luftig skum. God aprikosaroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er frukt og lite variert. Blir litt for søt.

Cloudy orange colour with a fine big off white head. Very hoppy and a some malt in the aroma. Heavy bitter texture. Rich hoppy flavour with fruity notes together with a solid malty background.

Amber colour with a slight haze. Thick, lacing head. Wonderful aroma of apricots, grapefruit, resin, pine needles and goose berries. really bitter and hoppy flavour of resin, grape fruit, orange peels, pine, wood and dried fruit. Long, refreshing biterness.

Man in the Moon, Stockholm tap: Pour is dark amber with off-white head. Aroma is really heavy on grapefruit. Taste has a nice hoppy punch, grapefruit of course. Excellent body. Moderate aftertaste. This is good, but hardly unique in the overcrowded world of double IPAs. Malt character pulls this through (whatever it was that I meant when I wrote that note).

33cl bottle, BBE 06/2013. Poured hazy amber with a thick white, lasting lacing head. Aroma has grapefruit, lychee, tropical fruity all over, very hoppy. Flavor has grapefruit, caramel, pine, overall fruity and intense, strong bitter finish, mouthdrying. High drinkability, impressive, fresh DIPA!

Draft at the Green Lion, Malmo. Pours Cloudy golden with a thick white head. Aroma is heavily floral, grapefruit, citrus and pine. Flavour also with massive floral aspects, overwhelming the expected flavours. Medium sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
