330ml bottle conditioned; bottled on 6th Mar 15, poured into a ’Palm’ badged bulbous stemmed tulip on 29th Jul 15. Label says it’s a Rye Oatmeal Stout: let’s see. Dark brown to proper black body, the head a steady, firm tanned blanket of deep foam. Earthy, grainy aroma with plenty of roasted maltiness. The taste follows suit, the roasted malts pushing any other flavours into the background, such is their dominance. Mild dry bitterness in the finish but overall this is all about the different malts and how they have blended together. Nice.

Many thanks to Beersiveknown for this 33cl bottle. Great dark roasted earth nose. The beer starts intense dark roasted with a subtle sourness. Very dry. Lots of earthy viscous roast, dark malt, nice roasted rye profile. The floral hops are there and harmonise fresh on to of the earthy mud. The bitterness is high - but more from the malt than from the hops. Extremely burned bitter and dark dry aftertaste with hints of floral hops. Very interesting!

Flaske fra Holmens importkoffert, delt med Ovesen: nesten skumfri. Brunsvart. Mye kaffe + litt lakris (og noe karamellsødme?) i både aroma og smak. Nesten ikke karbonering. Lett bitterhet i ettersmaken, som faktisk sitter ganske lenge. Tørr.

Bottle shared with JMD at HMD 17.05.15. Coffe, wood, liquorice and dark caramel in aroma and taste. Bitter liquorice and burnt wood in aftertaste. Low carbonation.

Cask gravity at Reading Beer Festival 2015. Black beer lasting tan head. Chocolate porter style aroma. Good chocolate flavour in the mouth. Some lime hop edge. Very tasty. Well balanced. Just exudes class. Excellent beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown opaque pour with a thin tan head, aroma has lengthy roast along with chocolate, taste is quite meaty, with a hint of chocolate conditioning has lost a lot very flat.

Cask @ James Monro, Liverpool. Extremely dark with a thick frothy head. Quite earthy with its roasted malt, there’s some here, but it’s more in the background making it a not too flavoursome ale. It’s aroma is slightly more stated with some burnt earthy-wooden notes here.

Cask at Craft 100, CBC Clapham, 02/04/15. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is rich roast, chocolate, dark fruits, light spice. Taste comprises chocolate biscuit, red berry fruit linger, pinch of spice, cocoa powder, light charr. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light roasted notes. Decent porter.
