Cask at the Brewpub. It pours deep brown a small beige head. The nose is toasty, earth, treacle, caramel, dried fruits and toast. The taste is bitter-sweet, dark fruits, wood, cocoa, earth, leather, resin, toast and ash with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good deal of bitterness. Well rounded and rather drinkable. Decent.

Cask at the brewpub - Angel, London. Pours red-brown with a creamy, off-white head. Nice cocoa in the nose, moderate roast, toasty malts. Light to medium sweet with nice baking cocoa, some milk chocolate, earth, mild hard water minerality. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Great balance on the finish with further dry, roasty malts, some earthy bitterness, cocoa, roast, burnt pine. Very solid.
