Figgy Pudding is our first ever Christmas beer. We might do it every year, but as yet is the first year we’ve made it. It’s got figs in it. Doh, who’d a thunked it?

It’s also got some cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in too, in a kinda dry spiced way,. after fermentation. Anyhow, not unsurprisingly, it tastes a little bit like Christmas. Does what it says on the tin.

Bottle @ home shared by joes. Brown colour with no real head. Smells cinnamon, allspice, herbs, gingerbread, scrobbelaer, cough syrup, more spices, pumpkin beer. Tastes loads of cinnamon, slightly nutmeg, thyme, tea and some other herbs and spices. This beer is pushing the limits. Medium body, nice carbo.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Nice dark red color, virtually no head. Aroma is lightly malts and herbs and spices strongly. Taste lightly malts, again lot of herbs and spices, totally dominated by that. Average body and carbonation. Yuk! God I hate herbs and spices. Blech.

Keg at The Cambridge Blue, Cambridge, Saturday 20th December 2014. Dark ruby red in colour, good clarity, soft in mouth. Hugely spicy (too much for Loz) clove, cinnamon, star anise perhaps. I think it works reasonably well despite being hugely overspiced and usually I am on a bit of a downer with beers that are overspiced. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle shared in London. Thanks to Kenny. Pours clear amber with a lightly creamy beige head. Lovely aroma, some holiday spices, a bit of cinnamon. Medium sweet flavor with very pleasant nutmeg, toasted bread, mellow earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Well balanced on the finish, more nutmeg, toast, dried fruits. Gorgeous.
