We conditioned Holy Cow, our Cranberry Milk Stout in Speyside Oak barrels for 10 months, and the result is a sumptuous 8% beer with a sharp edge and a full finish. Only 700 bottles were hand-bottled.

330ml bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield - Dark brown (nearly black) body, no head. Nose is milk chocolate, a bit of boozy distilled spirit, and dark cake fruits. Taste has a false sweetness about it, but not that unpleasant. Oily mouthfeel made it a bit more palatable, but to be honest I expected better when I paid my £4.65. .

Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, very dark, chestnut brown. No head. Whiskey, black treacle, dried vine fruit. Taste is dark sugar sweet, then dried, rind like bitter. Alcohol is noticeable. A bit like the Ilkley World’s End, this beer doesnt seem to have gained much from the barrel ageing, that couldn’t be gaining by chucking in a tot of whiskey. Disappointing.
