Cask-conditioned at the Barley Mow, Bristol, May 2014. Near black with a thin, off-white head. Easy drinking, with some plain chocolate, liquorice, touch of roast and gentle finish. Good.

Cask @ City Arms, Cardiff. Purplish brown, big head. Ovaltine, coffee and coal in the aroma. Taste is poor however: a cloying sweetness combined with a sulphurous note uncommon in a mild. Unwelcome sour aftertaste. Watery mouthfeel, like beer-flavoured water. Not a good beer really, shame as this is a brewery that produces some cracking beers.
