Taster showing amber brown with no head. The nose shows moderately intense notes of sweet caramel and light orange. The palate is lightly carbonated and light bodied. Lightly tart with moderately intense notes of bready malt and light dry caramel on the finish.

355ml bottle from Elizabeth Station (bought on the store 5th anniversary). Best after 2013-04-30. Pours an almost clear dark amber with a tan head. Aroma is fruity with winey (Pinot Noir) and some bourbon barrel, and cherry notes. Taste is quite sweet, very fruity, slightly sour with a noticable wine barrels notes. Quite complex and just slightly boozy. 5 years in the bottle definitely made it better. Very good stuff.

12oz bottle so the story goes like this. O an epic collaboration with hotd a new series of cool fun beers. Who would have guessed it was like a year or more behind schedule that’s right thanks hotd for your half of the collaboration to make the beer flat so Deschutes had to do everything they could to make it carb up. We’ll finally the wait was over this is a limited amount o shit I had better buy like a half rack. Nope you can still find it around. Ok ok pours out a muddy amber brown topped with a small head yes some carbonation. Nose is nice big pit fruit rich malts lots of wood tons going on and over time like any hotd beer it has gotten much better. Taste is more of the fruit notes caramel lots of wood.

12 oz.mbottle shared by Willrunforbeer. Label reads Best After 4/30/2013. Yep we are go with that date!! Hazy caramel color without much head. Aroma is sour oak, vinegar and sour grain.

Flavor has a huge oak profile that has the notes of cognac and rye whiskey the labels speaks about. Base of the beer has strong malt with dark fruits (raisins, dates) with a syrupy texture that becomes dry from the large amount of oak. No sour notes is a huge plus for me. This is pretty nice.

Bottle. Almost no carbonation at all, virtually still. This is like an aged barleywine. Lots of cherry aroma. Oak, vanilla, and raisin. Sweet caramel and brown sugar. The bourbon is in there, which brings it down for me. Just a sherry barrel, that could have been something amazing. Nevertheless a great beer with complexity and good flavor.
