22oz bomber courtesy of Cameron. Unfiltered orange-tan body. Foamy, glass lacing white head. Burnt caramel, oily hempy dankness. Comes off quite resinous and oily, pretty big and full bodied. I sort of associate this taste with something being burnt in the boiler, maybe the mash. A solid offering overall though, with copious amounts of hop character, and a big chewy malt body. Needs to be dialed in a little too achieve RB accolades. Classic West Coast IPA, pleasantly different than what I’m used to out here in Wisconsin.

Draft at the source. Decent citrus aroma, and lots of citrus taste. Not overly bitter.

Bottle - Lemon, lime and barnyard aromas. Cloudy orange with a thin white head. Big citrus and sour notes. This is an awesome saison, but wait it is an IPA. I must have a mislabeled bottle because this makes no sense whatsoever. Draft - Nice light citrus and pale malts. Clear gold with a decent beige head. Resin, light pine and some malty sweetness. Resin finish. Much better than original bottle.

Draft at Burnside Brewing in Portland, OR on 29 May 2013. Poured a hazy yellow ochre colour with a thin white head. Aroma of sharp lemon zest, peppery hops and caramel. Citrus hop flavour with biscuity sweetness and some dry hay. Finishes with balanced hop resin spruce and sweeter toasted malt flavours.

650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy copper with light head. Aromas of toffee and pine, with NZ hops? Flavors of funky piney hops, citrus, candy, and malts. Long bitter finish.

Deep dark copper and amber coloured body with a nice and relatively small two centimetre thick tan head. Aroma of pungent hops of grapefruit, pine and citrus notes coupled with some good malt and a hint of sweetness. Medium-bodied; Deep malty and earthy flavour at first from the hops with some good fresh hop notes, some mild citrus flavours and a decent amount of earthiness - mostly from the hops. Aftertaste shows a good balance of hops and malt - with the dominance obviously floating towards the hops - showing a lot of pine and earthiness and a subdued sweet flavour with hints of apples and caramel. Overall, a nice beer and a great example of the style with a lot of dominance on the sweetness and earthier side of things. Great to sample and a fairly typical west-coast IPA! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 12-April-2013 for US$4.98 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 14-June-2013.

Sample from firkin at the 6th Annual Rogue Firkin Fest at Green Dragon. Pours a slightly murky orange-straw color with a medium white head that recedes quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, pine and malt. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, toasted malt and caramel. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Cloudy amber,small beige head.Spicy hop nose & palate, similar to raw cannibis. Medium strength spicy lasting hop finish

Amber color, with medium sized creamy head. Strange aroma, almost phenolic, with some vegetables, hint of stewed cabbage, soil. Creamy caramel and toffee flavor, with moderate sweetness; even stronger presence of boiled vegetables than the aroma of them; cheesy and milky trace; at least the hopping is not impressive but still decent, in quality; strong bitterness and long final, the palate takes a while to adjust to some of its peculiar elements.
This was a weird one!

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours hazy orange amber with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is floral over a decent roast malt. Med+ body. Flavor is smooth (relatively) roast malt, with a lot of pine, grapefruit rind and I still think floral. Tough call - cause there’s a lot of hop in this. Really a lot of hop. It doesn’t burn all that much, but it nearly eclipses the malt. It isn’t NW burning harsh. Just extremely hoppy. Finishes balanced - malt sweet detectable against "a lot of hop".
