A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. A nice sweet candy sugar aroma with orange peels, hops and warming alcohol. In mouth, a rather peaty sweet malt with curacao, licorice, light herbal hops, oily mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Tasted late Dec. 2006.

750 ml bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Musty, bready, yeasty, dark fruity, floral aromas. Seriously. Near mahogany color with small particles and a fair, creamy beige head. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet malt, with floral hop and a lot of mysterious things. Very smooth. Finish is well balanced, and not very sweet. It’s just delicious. It’s really, really excellent. Brilliant, even.

more of a saison than a Belgian strong, it doesn’t have enough alcohol to be the latter, and has spices and yeast like the former. Yeast aroma. Sweet flavor with some malt, grass, and wildflowers. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

750ml Bottle-Copper coloured with red tinges when held to the light. Fruity and malty aroma with a slight metallic element. Bitter taste with raisins, spice and a surprisingly dry finish. After every sip it starts quite bitter but this bitterness quickly fades. I remember it being better two or three years ago.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is coffee, sweet, sugar, roasted. Flavour is sweet, coffee, alcohol, sugar, roasted, hop. Very nice beer.

Bottle, 75cl. An unclear, ruby beer with a nice, beige head. Sweetness, roasted malt and some fruityness in the aroma. I wish it was more pronounced though, it’s rather weak, but nice. Roasted flavor with some alcohol notes, sweetness and a little touch of coffee. Full, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Roasted and rather bitter finish. A nice beer combining the sweetness and bitterness in a pleasant way, with a roasted maltyness to fullfill it. (071228)

Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, slightly tart hints of red berries and fresh notes of spicy hops in the finish. Malty, spicy nose with notes of dried fruit, orange peel, caramel, toffee and spices (clove, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon). Malty, spicy taste with dried fruit, orange peel, treacle toffee, crisp-bread, brown sugar, ginger, clove, cinnamon and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Spicy and elegant winter warmer. Very nice.
