(Cask at Pikkulintu Ruttopuisto, 20251015) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had toasted malts, earth and a hint of coffee. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were toasted malts, earth, mildly coffee and bitterness. Aftertaste had toasted malts, coffee and bitterness. A mildly unbalanced malty brew.

RERATE : Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Original rating was more or less factual but the scores were rather harsh ! Also, it has excellent lacing and is somewhat hazy and slow to clear.
ORIGINAL RATING : Cask at Old Bell, Derby. Pours “bitter brown” with minimal off-white head. Just malts in the aroma, and they continue in the mouth. Sweey and malty with a creamy texture. Some caramel and fruit cake come through later on. Finish is bitter, but also fruity. Not bad at all. 6:5:6:6:6.5

Can from The Beerhive. Clear deep amber body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of toffee, plum and copper. Flavour of cranberry, earth and bread. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. A tasty, malty beer and an excellent example of the style.

Handpull cask at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. I missed the Abbeydale TTO but this is still on and in good nick. Light to mid-brown, slightly ruddy completion and clear with a nice tight off-white/beige head. Not a lot of atoma here, sadly, it's a bit woody/earthy but not that much character otherwise. Taste has a fair bit more character: swet and fruity with soft bitter edges nearer the finish. Velvety body with very soft carbonation. A well-made pint with far too little personality.
