Pours very dark, nearly black. Smaller white to off-white head. Smell is metallic smoked. Taste is sharp, tad bitter, smoked, bit metallic. mild roasted malts in the back. Dry an bitter roast, not creamy and sweet as prefered by myself. All and all the smoke ain't overkill though. The body is kinda weak, carbo is kinda high. Its a mediocer beer to me, as a base, but at least you can actually taste the base, and it's not all hidden by smoke, which is a big + . On the other hand, there seem to be no noticable off-flavors to me, so I feel obliged to rate this beer perhaps a bit higher than how I actually enjoyed it.

On tap @Bir&Fud (Rome). Bruna, abbastanza limpida, schiuma media non molto persistente. Al naso sentori di bacon, speck, malto, un po’ sporca. In bocca non è bilanciatissima e risulta ancora un po’ sporca, malto in evidenza, torbatura media, buona persistenza. Corpo medio, inferiore alle attese, carbonazione medio-leggera. Si beve, ma mi aspettavo di più.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly deminishing head. Dark amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Peated! Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch rauchig, röstmalzig, holzig. Geschmack leicht röstmalzig, rauchig, holzig, Karamell, leicht würzig.

On tap @ Haandfest 2013. A deep dark brown one with a lacing small brown top. Really smoky beefy aroma with ashtray and a peated touch to it. A bit one dimensional perhaps, but as it should be smoked wise. Just above average on the carbonation and it has a oily mouthfeel. Quite nice and easy to drink. Surprisingly I find clear traces of both chocolate and cocoa. Mild beefy smote tones, but not as much as the aroma suggested. Absolutely fair. 25.05.2013

0.75l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This one pours a really deep dark brown, almost black body. The dark dark brown head that came in the pour really vaporizes quicker than I can't say [...] Smells super smoky. Almost what I would call peated. Leather reap and some licorice. As good as flat on the carbonation and kinda gliding oily in the mouth. Not AS smoky or peaty in the taste as the nose suggested. Still, some peatiness in the finish and aftertaste. A hint of licorice and kahula in the aftertaste. Definitely way over the top. 09.10.2013 6-3-5-4-10

Bottle. Wo-hooo… This pours black with a ferocious but quickly receding head. Aroma is burned malts, peat, ropes, tar, boathouse and sea side in general. Medium body with lively carbonation. Flavour is sweet with roasted malts, dark fruits, tobacco, molasses and oil, Finish off with with an overly sweetness of ripe dark fruits. Quite a surprise, and a massive taste bomb. A very tasty bomb, that is!

Bottle @ Home. Pours black with a fading brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, lovely smoked, wood, peat, little chocolate. Flavor is malt, light smoke, bacon, chocolate. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation, rather dry finish. 270713
