If asked, we add locally sourced honey to our fabulously soft, rounded porter. Hints of honey complement the chocolate, smokey and marmalade flavours that have made the regular brew so popular.

Wakefield Beer Festival 2015. Dark with roasted malts fused with a general sweetness, presumably from the honey, but this actual flavour is very low.

Cask @ Brewery Shades, Crawley. Very dark brown with little head. Sweet malty aroma of honey, strong coffee, slight vinegar. Initial sweet taste whacks headlong into a bitter-sour lasting through to the finish. Thinner mouthfeel than I would have liked. Still, a good porter is always welcome, even slightly unbalanced ones.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4/11/2013. Black in colour with a slight tan head. Dark chocolate, some dark fruits, toasty mlats and a hint of honey sweetness in the finish. Very good.

Gravity dispense at CPBF, 2013. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, honey, cherry, blackcurrant, cocoa and faint liquorice. The taste is roasted malt, earth, bitter-sweet, dark fruit, chocolate, honey, caramel, pleasant bitterness, faint tang, berry jam and toast with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Solid porter.

Cask at Egham United Services Club Summer Beer Festival 2012. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet, roasty, chocolate aroma. Tastes sweet, dark fruit, some chocolate and a definite hint of honey in there. Smooth and easy drinking porter. Delicious.
